At the time of writing this, NFL off-season training is in full swing. Which means: we are receiving weekly feedback from all the athletes and adjusting our training strategy accordingly.
To us at Absolute, athlete feedback is essential - as we view athletes as possessing the highest kinesthetic IQ, meaning: the information they provide to us as the coach or programmer is vital to how we organize and manage their training work.
An interesting phenomenon that occurs from analyzing athlete feedback is there will be convergence in regard to the training means (i.e., exercises) and the sequence in which the exercises are performed. A simple example would be: 10 of 15 athletes will say: “I feel I get more out of the reverse hyper if I do segmental flexion and extension of the spine.” This is the athletes communicating to you how they like their training sequenced. This is a topic for a member’s meetings, but I wanted to provide this context with this spine training template.
In the training of the NFL lineman, we have what we term “recovery days”. We have four main days - two days with the aim of acquiring absolute strength and two days with the aim of increasing speed strength, explosive strength, etc. Those four days are taxing and require adequate recovery. The training that we provided for you here is a training template on a recovery day that optimally trains the spine. Give this training and try and let us know your feedback!
