Stimulating Reactive Strength in the Clinical Setting

Conjugate in the Clinic: This entire reactive strength stimulus [PIMAs šŸ” HIMAs] took minutes—and changed joint function immediately.

Clinical Reactive Strength

This video shows reactive strength being cultivated inside the clinical space.

To us at Absolute reactive strength is not a single quality. It is a special strength that emerges from the conjugation of two components:

  • a top-down neurological component

  • a bottom-up biological (tissue) component

When both are stimulated together, reactive strength emerges. Once you see reactive strength from the inside-out, it changes how you program clinical work. It makes this special strength programable for the therapist, not just trainable for the strength coach.

Understanding Reactive Strength from the inside out has far reaching effects. It opens up new programming opportunities that we never had prior.

Programming Reactive Strength in Real Time

We use the Internal Isometric Continuum (IIC). The IIC is a mental model that distinguishes between two types of isometric muscle actions and how each should be coached based off the most up to date consensus statement on isometrics. It enables us to respect the biological Law of Specificity while programming for both the nervous system and connective tissue network responsible to reach Point B reactive strength.

In the video, you’ll see two isometric actions:
