Watch Jalen Hurts' Neural Net of Absolute Strength in Super Bowl LVII
Expanding on the concept of the neural net of absolute strength with current athletes.
With the Super Bowl being this weekend, we wanted to share with you this diagram representing an Absolute Concept (i.e., the neural net of absolute strength) and show you the Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts training the neural net utilizing a maximal effort barbell squat. It is obvious from his training that Hurts is at Point B in regard to absolute strength. This means: he has well established neural network (see image below) that allows him to succeed in every situation on the field (i.e., level of competition) this Sunday in Super Bowl LVII.
At Absolute, we conceptualize maximal effort training as establishing and priming a “neural net of absolute strength” in a Hebbian manner (cells that wire together, fire together). This concept was introduced and discussed in detail in: Untrained & Sub-optimally Trained Nervous Systems: A Limiting Constraint to High Performance.
Once this neural net has been established via training, it is this net that is subsequently trained to acquire further physical capacities (i.e., special strengths, joint workspace) or practiced with to acquire skill in sport. Understanding this should put the below image into more context for you.
