From what I’ve learned from this page and the FRS is that it’s highly likely the surgery could have been avoided; however, even if surgery was still needed his rehab would be far superior following the internal strength model than the standard process.

Internal strength deficit?

In many cases, athletes, their injury history and their existing states are inherited when a team brings them on - whether through draft, sign or trade. And in some cases, surgical intervention may be the best option for the athlete at that given moment due to the relatively short and non-guaranteed length of their career. Without knowing his particular case, I think it could be theoretically possible to avoid surgery with more diligent training but at the same time, surgery may also theoretically put someone in a better position to prolong their (again, relatively short - compared to general pop) career.

Thanks for the comment Jeff. Totally agree with your points. An athlete's injury history as well as physical capacity is a burden of proof much like a stat line, which directly has an impact on career longevity.

Appreciate your insight.

I didn’t see what the surgery was. Was it a Resurfacing of the femoral head or removing part of the acetabulum? Labrum?
