“Speed-Strength

Rate of force development or speed-strength — is the rapid discharge of force resulting from the cumulative effect of tissue-specific quantities and nerve system capacities.”

Is it possible to give a different definition for “cumulative effect of tissue-specific quantities” ? Trying to understand but obviously I’m missing a thought process 😅

RFD is an output of the CNS. That output must be capable of being run through tissues specific to RFD to ultimately generate the output of speed strength in the external environment.

In this speed strength is the culmination of having access to tissue specific stiffness as well as muscle motor unit recruitment. If those do not exist to certain levels the CNS cannot “use” them effectively and there will be a decrease in RFD.
